DESCRIPTION

Scalp vein sets are designed to access a superficial vein, often on one’s hands, wrists, or scalp, (hence the name) for veni-puncture, or an injection into your vein or a phlebotomy. They consist of two soft, flexible bilateral “wings”, a hypodermic needle that is designed to create minimal tissue damage, flexible transparent tubing and a connector, which one attaches to another device, such as a syringe, vacuum tube or extension tube from an infusion pump or IV drip bag, etc. The scalp vein sets from AdvaCare Pharma are designed specifically to provide rapid venous access to ensure a higher level of patient comfort during the infusion process.

HOW IT WORKS

To start the veni-puncture process, grasp the butterfly wings firmly between your thumb and index finger, making sure your hold is very close to the needle. This ensures precise needle placement before puncturing the skin. The set’s design makes it possible to insert the needle toward the vein at a shallow angle, which is ideal. When the needle enters the vein, expect for a small amount of blood to enter into the set's transparent tubing. This is a direct response to the release of pressure the veins experience as they are punctured and is simply a visible signal of a successful venous entry. Slowly release the plunger and carefully remove the needle. comfort during the infusion process.
